And this is the second time someone has crashed into her since her surgery.

First accident the car in front of her backed into her at a light after forgetting he'd put he car in reverse to get out of the cross walk. Shook her up and scuffed the bumper but didn't do any serious damage to her or the car.

Yesterday someone took an unsignaled left at full speed into the driver's fender of her car. Smashed the hell out of her car(it is a likely total) and she got to spend the evening in the ER getting x-rayed to make sure she didn't pull any of the hardware out of her spine.

Final tally was a sprained wrist, black eye/bruising from the airbag, and some soreness that likely indicates a week or two setback in her back healing. Oh and a new paranoia about driving until her back has fully healed.

Dear Boston, please stop running into her. 'kay?

Is the culprit a mother? All my pals who owned some nice cars got rear ended by a mother in a van.

What was the nature of the surgery? I'm afraid I'm destined for surgery soon myself and I don't have a whole lot of anecdotal success stories.

According to her she " had my spine fused in two places (C5-6 and C6-7) ". She reported an almost immediate drastic reduction in pain (from 9-10 to 2-4) the day after the surgery and have not hit their old levels since.

Issues have been a lot of bad medication interactions(she is allergic to weird stuff), throat pain and difficulty talking(they went through the front of her neck and had to push her trachea aside to reach her spine), and muscle soreness that seems to be related to trying to re-learn her posture now that her spine/neck aren't causing pain.

My friends both got their cars totaled by asshats in mustangs. Except for my one friend who had his V6 Vue totaled by a woman high on meth running from the cops.

Ouch. Mine is L5/S1 so I've got a good deal of functional spine in between. Still waiting on an appointment with the neurosurgeon. Best of luck to her.

The friends I were referring to have a Subaru Impreza GC and a Volvo S40 respectively.

Yikes!! Best wishes for your friend.

Definitely don't let her drive in Providence after this. If you think Boston is bad....
